Our team operates & maintains 18 recycling centers throughout the county that accept household garbage & recyclables. Find out which material types & amounts are accepted here.
We do not offer curbside pickup. At your own cost, you have the option to contract with independent franchise haulers for curbside pickup & other services.
Residential waste
Residents who live in unincorporated areas of the county pay an annual assessment fee to use the recycling centers at no additional cost but also have the option to contract with independent franchise haulers for curbside pickup & other services.
All residents of incorporated areas within the county, businesses & those wanting to dispose of more than what is accepted at the recycling centers can use the Marion County Baseline Landfill.
Non-assessed residents recycling center permit
Residents living in incorporated cities and towns & outside the county also have an opportunity to use the recycling centers by purchasing an annual permit. This permit may be registered to up to 3 vehicles per household for an annual fee of $100.
Non-assessed resident permits will be processed at our office: 5601 SE 66th St., Ocala.
Business waste
Commercial users do not pay the solid waste assessment & are not permitted to dispose of trash or recyclables at the recycling centers.
Businesses can use the Marion County Baseline Transfer Station by contacting Solid Waste at 352-671-8465 for a list of available programs.
General Rules
Materials are only accepted from those paying the solid waste assessment
Residents may be asked to show proof of residency
Volume limits by material will be followed
There shall be no scavenging – removal of items from the centers
Residents are responsible for unloading their own materials
Residents are responsible for placing the materials in the correct place
Do not put hands, arms or body inside the compactor. Compactor can start at any time
Do not enter compactors for any reason
Waste in commercial vehicles (including wrapped vehicles), branded or vehicles with commercial tags are not permitted
Commercial waste materials will not be accepted
All materials must be properly secured

How to Recycle
- Place all the following items into the recycling container
- Items must be clean, empty and dry
- Place items loose in the container. Not in plastic bags
- Cardboard should be flattened
To Properly Recycle, Leave These Out
- No food or liquid. Empty and rinse containers
- No glass
- Do not bag recyclables. Place them in the container loose
- No plastic bags, plastic wrap or bubble wrap
- No hoses, wires, chain or electronics
- No yard waste
- No clothing or linens
