Transportation

• All material will be secured in bags or enclosed container to prevent littering
• All loads shall be secure to prevent spillage

Safety

• Do not put hands, arms or body inside the compactor. The compactor can start at any time
• Do not enter compactors for any reason

Acceptable Household Garbage

• Up to 180 gallons of household garbage per day
  • Example:
    
    • 6 standard garbage cans

    • 6 standard garbage bags
    •  3 large (leaf and lawn type) bags

Safe Transportation

Expired of unwanted prescription & over-the-counter medications from households should never be disposed of by flushing them down the toilet or a drain.

Although this method of disposal prevents accidental ingestion, it can cause contamination to Florida's aquatic environment. This is because wastewater treatment systems are not designed to remove many of these medications.

Seven steps to safety

1. Keep the medicines in the original container. This will help identify the contents if they are accidentally ingested.
2. Mark out your name & prescription number for safety.
3. For pills: add some water or soda to start dissolving them. For liquids: add something inedible like cat litter, dirt or cayenne pepper.
4. Close the lid & secure with duct or packing tape.
5. Place the bottle(s) inside an opaque (non see-through)container like a coffee can or plastic laundry bottle.
6. Tape that container closed.
7. Hide the container in the trash. Do not put in the recycle bin.

Five passenger-sized tires may be disposed at one of the following recycling centers per day:

The recycling centers will accept two cubic yards of residential yard waste per day. Branches must be less than four inches in diameter & less than four feet long.
