NOTICE OF ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
FOR VACANCIES ON VOLUNTEER ADVISORY BOARDS
The Marion County Board of County Commissioners currently has vacancies on the following volunteer boards:
1. License Review Board
(2 Alternate Members)
Applicants should be licensed building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, aluminum, heating/cooling, or general contractors.
Responsibilities: Investigates and hears complaints regarding competency of licensed contractors; may suspend or revoke a contractor’s certificate of competency; may issue letters of reprimand; may authorize Marion County Building Dept. officials to withhold issuance of a building permit based on status of contractor’s license.
2. Code Enforcement Board
(2 Alternate Members)
Members must be residents of Marion County. Applicants should have experience or interest in zoning and building control.
Responsibilities: Members have the jurisdiction to hear and decide alleged violations of County ordinances, subpoena alleged violators and witnesses to its hearings; take testimony under oath; issue orders having the force and effect of law including establishment and levy of fines pursuant to County Ordinance. Alternate members attend meetings when one or more regular members are unable to attend.
3. Land Development Regulation Commission
(1 Full & 1 Alternate Member)
Applicants must be qualified electors in Marion Co. Members should be representative of the technical fields related to land development regulations, including the ability to evaluate and recommend specific regulatory standards and criteria. The areas of planning, environmental science, agriculture and the development industry will be considered in appointing members.
Responsibilities: Make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding proposed changes to the Land Development Code.

The deadline for receiving applications is March 7, 2014, at 5 p.m. The Marion County Board of County Commissioners plans to appoint members on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 or as soon thereafter as possible.
