Liberty Community Park was named by the public through a park-naming contest. The property was purchased & developed using the Pennies for Parks bond referendum in the amount of $639,777. It was purchased from the Ochlerking & Welber families, who only agreed to sell their property if it was going to be used "forever as a park." Construction of the park began in 2004 with the installation of pavilions, playground equipment, restrooms, & a stabilized parking area. Additional improvements including a paved walking trail, picnic pavilion, & open play field suitable for baseball, soccer, & football were completed in 2014.
